Anyone working with IFTTT?

Anyone here doing anything with IFTTT? I poked around a bit and am wondering just what I could do with it??? Maybe I have absolutely no need for it, but...

  • Hi Art Shotwell sure! With IFTTT integrations you can add commands to Smart Remote for devices that are not compatible yet with Smart Remote. For example Lutron devices are not directly integrated with Smart Remote yet so you won't be able to add them as a Wi-Fi device on Smart Remote. However with the IFTTT integration you can create a button on Smart Remote that will call and IFTTT service that could for example turn on your Lutron lights. Here is a list of all the services accessible via IFTTT. And here is how to set up IFTTT Webhooks on Smart Remote. Please let us know if you have any questions about it.

  • Great. Thank you...

  • I use it to control my smart devices since direct SmartThings integration doesn’t exist yet. I use it to integrate with my Olibra bond for rf (fans) integration. Finally I use it to launch harmony activities. Giving me the confidence of point and click mode without the ir requirement of sevenhugs.

  • Harmony Remote??? my biggest problem with SmartRemote is connecting to my Comcast cable tv box

    • Art Shotwell connecting via IR... wish I had BT connection from SmartRemote to Comcast

    • Art Shotwell yeah so I had a harmony hub and remote prior to kickstarting sevenhugs. I like it for the point mode,  but the ir reliance sucks. Granted I can’t complain about that since it was well advertised at purchase time as opposed to the integrations promised....  but anyway with a harmony hub you can put it in your media closet, use smart remote via webhooks to tell ifttt to tell hubs to launch your activity including your Comcast. It’s a little silly but it works... or if you don’t care about point mode just get the harmony hub with rf remote.
