Set up Smart Remote

Follow these instructions to set up Smart Remote:


1. Turn on Smart Remote

  • Remove the Charging Base and power adapter from the box.

  • Connect the power adapter to the Charging Base and plug the power adapter into a power outlet.  

  • Install the Charging Base in the primary room you want to use Smart Remote and the room you want to install your Room Sensors. The Charging Base is part of Smart Remote’s indoor positioning system and will need to be visible by all three Room Sensors to use Point Mode (when you point Smart Remote at any device, it automatically displays the right controls).

  • Avoid using extension cords and third-party power adapters.   

  • To turn on Smart Remote, place it on the USB-C connector on the Charging Base. Wait a few seconds for the screen to turn on and display “hello, world”. 



2. Connect Smart Remote to your Wi-Fi network (2.4Ghz only) 

  • Press “Get started” on Smart Remote’s screen.

  • Select your Wi-Fi network (Smart Remote is only compatible with 2.4GHz networks; 5GHz networks will not be displayed as options). All the Wi-Fi devices you want to control with Smart Remote will need to be connected to the same 2.4GHz network you select. The phone that you’re using to set up Smart Remote will also need to be connected to the same network.

  • Enter your Wi-Fi password and click "join"

  • When Smart Remote is connected to your Wi-Fi network it will display  "Connected to Wi-Fi", press "OK".


3. Update your Smart Remote’s software


  • When prompted about a new software update, place Smart Remote on the Charging Base to start downloading the latest software. Keep Smart Remote on Charging Base until the software update is complete.

  • Smart Remote will automatically restart when the software update is complete, which could take a few minutes. 

  • After restarting, Smart Remote will show a screen "Add everything you want to control using the Smart Remote app".


4. Pair your Smart Remote with the Sevenhugs Smart Remote app

  • Download and launch the Sevenhugs Smart Remote. You can get the app here.

  • Click "Start Setup" and follow the in-app instructions.

  • The Sevenhugs Smart Remote app will start looking for your Smart Remote. Please make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as Smart Remote.

  • Select the Smart Remote you want to connect with. 

  • Enter the security code displayed on Smart Remote's screen into the app. If security code disappears from Smart Remote's screen, you can always send a new code from the app.

  • When the connection is secured, press "Continue" to add Smart Remote to your app.

You are now able to add Wi-Fi devices, infrared devices, BLE devices and services using the app.
