Calibrate everyday

Everyday when i want to use the remote i have to make the 8 figure and then i have to point at the 3 sensors.

why do i have to do that everyday?

Is it because the battery is empty everyday and it rebooted?

  • Hi Ed,

Thanks for sharing this. Is your Charging Base placed next to a speaker or any other device?

Sevenhugs it’s placed before my tv. I only have to do it when the battery died and the remote started again. When i put the remote on the base on time then i don’t have to calibrate.

Ed van Dam have you tried our latest software update ? This shouldn't happen anymore with this update.

  • I have the exact same issue. Just set mine up yesterday and with battery life so poor it’s done this twice. I’ve turned off Point Mode for now.

    Running v0.66.12-19.5.4-ae

    Thanks, Shane.

    • Shane Lord  Ed van Dam thanks for your feedback. So what should happen with the latest version of Smart Remote is that you need to redo the calibration of your Smart Remote and the alignment as soon as your Smart Remote turns on. You shouldn't have to to relocate all your devices after this. Is this what you are encountering? If yes, we understand that it is still pretty frustrating to have to re-align Smart Remote with your Room Sensors each time. Our team is investigating whether we could avoid that or not.

    • Anne-Sophie F. Like the battery issue, I'm not sure how a product could go out the door with this.  I'm throwing mine out unless someone wants spare parts.

    • dan koralek I wanted to share with you that we are about to release a new version of the software with a great improvement on the battery. This way you won't have to recharge Smart Remote every day neither re-align with Room Sensors. You could also choose to use Smart Remote without Room Sensors and Point Mode.

    • Anne-Sophie F. I threw mine out. It was such a lousy product and bought a Logitech remote that does more, costs less, and lasts much longer even though it has a touch screen. It doesn’t do the point at a device thing but it isn’t vaguely frustrating to use. As I’ve mentioned before I’m not sure how anyone at sevenhugs thought this device was ready for prime time and should never have gone to the wider market with this type beta feel. I would never buy a sevenhugs device again (and I’m under the impression that you must be planting reviews).  I accept that I bought it as a backer and this is the risk that I took. I just don’t get how oblivious people at sevenhugs seem to be at what should be normal expectations for your device...  clearly only going for wow factor and not actual practical use of your device. You guys seem to think that normal expectations shouldn’t apply to you because this is some magical device. Other than the pointing at a device feature which requires those ugly wall pucks there is. I thing remotely novel about this.  I don’t expect anything other than some self reflection about how you might improve as a company and not buy into your own self hype and actually deliver useful products. Maybe you are just trying to hype yourself to hopefully get bought out. But if you want to go it on your own and succeed you need to step up your game in a big way.

    • Hi dan koralek we are sorry that you had a bad experience with Smart Remote and that it does not meet your expectations. Our team is working on improving Smart Remote every day and feedback like yours is super important for us. I don't know if you have had time to test the improved battery life, this is one important improvement we made lately because we were totally conscious that the battery life of Smart Remote was not enough for our users. We will take your feedback into for our next generation of hardware too.

    • Anne-Sophie F. the battery life was still crap. Before it would die overnight with no use. So doubling is useless. As I said even two days of battery life with.m no use is unacceptable. How anyone at sevenhugs thought it is is beyond me. Have you ever used a competitors product???  I will never buy a sevenhugs product again. Logitech and I’m sure others deliver more for far less.

  • Hi I’m new to this remote but I am having to recalibrate almost everyday. The battery is fine and I always dock it but to use this feature it’s a pain.

    • Brandon Lomax  thanks a lot for sharing your experience. Is your charging base placed next to a speaker by any chance? If yes, we would recommend moving it away from the speaker. Also, does this happen only when you Smart Remote is off and you put it back on the Charging Base?

    • Anne-Sophie F. thanks for your response. To answer your question when the battery dies and it recharges I have to recalibrate, and I had an av set up that would freeze and restart the remote. I have since deleted that av scene. The charging base is about 4ft from one speaker. I moved it to 8 ft away to see if that helps.

    • Brandon Lomax thanks a lot for getting back to us! Concerning the fact that you have to recalibrate your Room Sensors each time the Smart Remote is back on after the battery dies, this is normal, unfortunately, we can not keep the calibration when the remote is off. Concerning your Av Scene, have you tried to add it again? Does it still happen?
