Set up Webhooks

Thanks to the new Webhooks integration you can create buttons on your Smart Remote to control your devices using IFTTT Webhooks.

For advanced users, our webhooks integration also allows adding buttons that send custom HTTP requests. Here are the types of HTTP requests currently supported by Smart Remote.

IFTTT Webhook trigger

You will need to first set up an applet that uses Webhooks as a trigger on your IFTTT account, via the IFTTT App or IFTTT.com:

  1. Log in to your IFTTT account

  2. On IFTTT Home Page click “Get more”

  3. Click on “Make more applets from scratch If this then that” button or scroll to find “create your own” card

  4. Click on the “+” after “If”

  5. Search and select the service “Webhooks”

  6. Select “Receive a web request” as a trigger

  7. Enter your Event Name. Make sure to remember it as you will need it when setting up your IFTTT Webhooks in Smart Remote App. Click “Create trigger”

  8. Click on the “+” after “Then”

  9. Select any service you want to trigger when you will push the webhook button on Smart Remote and follow the instructions to define the action you want to trigger

  10. Click “Create action”

  11. Review and click on “Finish”

  12. Go back to your IFTTT Home and search and select “Webhooks” in Services tab

  13. Click on “Documentation” and copy your Key.

You can now add your IFTTT Webhook to your Smart Remote:

  1. Make sure your phone and Smart Remote is connected to the same Wi-Fi

  2. Launch the Sevenhugs Smart Remote app and make sure you are on the Devices & Service tab.

  3. Click on “Add a device or service”

  4. Select “Services” and “Webhooks”

  5. Press “Start” and then “Add a trigger”

  6. Select “IFTTT Webhook trigger”

  7. Past your IFTTT Webhooks key you had copied in step 13. And press “Next”

  8. Enter the event Name you gave to your IFTTT Webhook in step 7. above and enter the name of the button you want to be displayed on Smart Remote

  9. Press “Next”

The IFTTT Webhook should now be added to your Smart Remote. Tap icon at the top of the screen to trigger your action.

Note: if you want to add other Webhooks buttons on the same page on Smart Remote, go back to your Home on Smart Remote App, select services already added, Webhooks and “Add a trigger”.

If you prefer not to have it on the same page of Smart Remote just click “Add a device or service” on your Smart Remote App Home and follow the steps.
