Create A/V Scenes

A/V Scenes allow you to control multiple A/V devices simultaneously or a sequence of actions involving one or more A/V devices with a single button. For example, you can create an A/V scene called “Watch Apple TV” that turns on your TV and A/V receiver, selects the right inputs, displays the Apple TV controls on Smart Remote, and also dims your lights by adding a Home Scene.

Before creating an A/V Scene, make sure your mobile phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Smart Remote. Then follow this simple two-part process:

Part I: Create an A/V Scene using the app:

  1. Select the “A/V Scenes” tab in the app

  2. Select “Create an A/V Scene”

  3. Enter a name for the A/V Scene you want to create

  4. If desired, you can change the icon for your A/V Scene by tapping the icon next to the name you entered

  5. Continue creating your scene by selecting the A/V devices you want to control and selecting answers to these questions in the app:

    1. Which display would you like to use?

    2. Which input/source would you like to use?

    3. Is your source connected via an A/V receiver?

    4. Which device do you use to control sound?

The first thing you will be asked to do is press power button on Smart Remote to turn on all the devices you added to the A/V Scene. Make sure you point Smart Remote at any infrared (IR) devices you have in the scene and that there is direct line of sight between Smart Remote and each IR device. `

  2. Make sure all your devices are powered on. If not, press the power button to turn on the device or devices that are not turned on. When you verify that all the devices in the A’V Scene are on,, press “Everything is ON”.

  3. Select the right inputs for each of your devices by pressing the right and left arrows next to the name of each device. When all your devices have the right input, you should see and/or hear input/source device you selected.  When this happens, press “Inputs are OK”.

  4. Smart Remote has now recorded all the required input settings to activate your A/V Scene and your A/V Scene has been successfully added. Press “finish” to exit.

You now have access to your A/V Scene in Smart Remote’s carousel. To create a location for an A/V Scene in Point Mode, long press on the A/V Scene icon you want to locate in the carousel and follow the on-screen instructions.
