Activate Point Mode and Locate items
Smart Remote allows you to control everything like magic: when you point Smart Remote at any device, it automatically displays the right controls.
To locate your first time on Smart Remote you need first to activate Point Mode:
Make sure you have set up your Room Sensors
On Smart Remote, swipe or tap in the carousel at the top of the screen to navigate to the Settings icon on the far right.
Select “Point Mode”
Press the “Activate Point Mode” button
When you are ready to start press “Confirm”
Smart Remote will first check the placement of your Room Sensors and Charging Base to make sure they can all see each other. Please check the Troubleshooting links below if you encounter any issues at this step.
When Smart Remote confirms that the placement of your Room Sensors and Charging Base are good, Smart Remote will ask you to finalize your calibration. Press “Start” to being this process.
Go to the center of your room and point Smart Remote at the Room Sensor that is blinking blue. Press the arrow button on Smart Remote while pointing at the Room Sensor blinking blue. The light on the Room Sensor should change from blinking blue to solid white.
Point Smart Remote at the next Room Sensor that is blinking blue and press the arrow button while pointing.
Point Smart Remote at the last Room Sensor that is blinking blue and press the arrow button while pointing at the Room Sensor. All three Room Sensors should now be solid green
Your calibration is complete. Press “finish” to exit.
Decide which device, service, scene or group to locate.
Swipe or tap through the carousel on Smart Remote to find the item you want to locate. If you have not yet added the item, please do so using the Smart Remote app.
Create a location for the item you selected
Press and hold the icon in the carousel for the item you want to locate until a “Locate” button appears.
Walk over to the location you want to create and hold Smart Remote in the precise location you want to point at to control this item. If you are locating an individual device or an infrared (IR) device, hold Smart Remote within 6 inches (15cm) of the device you want to locate. If you are locating an item that is on the ceiling, just hold Smart Remote underneath the item.
It does not matter how high or low you hold Smart Remote when locating an item.
Consider locating A/V Scenes, Home Scenes, and groups of lights instead of locating each and every individual device you add to Smart Remote. You should only locate individual devices that you want instant access to in Point Mode.
Repeat the above steps for all of the devices, services, scenes, and groups you want to locate and use in Point Mode.
Tips and Tricks
How to set a location
• Select the device, service, scene or group you want to locate and press and hold its icon in Smart Remote’s carousel.
• Smart Remote will ask you to hold the remote in the precise location you want to point at to control the selected item (usually right next to the device you want to locate or below it if it's on the ceiling).
Height doesn’t matter
Point Mode is a 2D technology. If you set a location on your ceiling and another one right below it on your floor, Smart Remote will recognize both points as the same location.
You never need to climb on a ladder to set a location.
Don't locate all your devices
• Create and locate AV Scenes instead of locating every device connected to your TV.
• Create and locate groups of lights instead of locating every individual light.
Choose one location for things close together
Set one location for all items within 6 feet (2m) of one another.
Example: When locating AV Scenes or devices connected to your TV, set the location for each item at the center of your TV.
Control things close together
When you point Smart Remote at a location that’s been set for multiple items, you can choose which item you want to control by swiping in the carousel.
